Stratford Christmas Market and Highams Park Winter Fayre

Yesterday morning the band played at Stratford for their Christmas market. We enjoyed entertaining the local shoppers and were delighted with the audience's response to our presence. We would like to thank the food market stalls that provided us with a range of cultural cuisine which we thoroughly appreciated especially in the cold weather.

In the afternoon the band then travelled to Higham Hill Recreation Ground where we performed at a winter fayre. Everyone got into the Christmas spirit, surrounded by the winter chill and smell of mulled wine.

Remembrance Sunday

Today the band led the parade for Remembrance Sunday at Walthamstow. Once we arrived at the town hall, a service took place in remembrance for those who have lost their lives fighting in previous and current wars. People from all areas of the community were gathered for this significant day and we were privileged to have taken part.

After the service we played at The Warrant Officer pub, entertaining the members of the parade with a variety of tunes.

We would also like to welcome our visitors from Iowa who guested with us today. It was a pleasure to have them playing with us at such short notice.

Poppy Launch

Yesterday, The Stow Caledonian Pipe Band played at The Warrant Officer for The Walthamstow British Legion's Poppy Launch.

The evening began with a minutes silence to remember those who are no longer with us which reminded us all of the significant reason we were gathered. The guests then all enjoyed a 3 course meal which was shortly followed by a performance from the band.

We would like to thank Walthamstow British Legion for a lovely evening, we were well looked after. The evening raised a lot of money for The Poppy Appeal which goes towards helping ex-veterans and their families during difficult times.

Burnham-On-Crouch Carnival

Burnham-On-Crouch Carnival has been taking place annually for the last 104 years and we were honoured to take part despite the lengthy procession. We were amongst a number of floats and groups involved in the carnival, all of which contributed to the atmosphere created by the many hundreds of people lining the streets. It was wonderful to hear the crowd singing along to some of our tunes which made it a memorable experience.

Garden Party at The Warrant Officer

Due to the typical English weather, the garden party that was meant to be held at Rob and Lesley's place was moved to The Warrant Officer pub. This however did not dampen out spirits and we put on several performances throughout the afternoon whilst enjoying the variety of food and drink served.
